MS4 Compliance

Municipal separate storm sewer systems (MS4s) are required to develop, implement, and enforce a stormwater management program (SWMP).

  • Determines compliance with permit conditions, applicable regulations, and other requirements.
  • Assesses the adequacy of best management practices to protect natural resources.
  • Reviews on-site activities for permit compliance and the construction operator’s SWPPP.

MS4 Inspections

In addition to developing the SWPPP, regulated parties must implement the SWPPP, conduct regular inspections, and maintain best management practices (BMPs). Inspections are required once every seven days during active construction and within 24 hours after a rainfall event greater than 0.5 inches in 24 hours.
